Our work was recently published in the The Australian Educational Leader (AEL), ACEL Australia’s flagship professional publication. AEL is a highly regarded journal, both nationally and internationally, that fosters the exchange of research, emerging trends, and best practices in education.
Our article delves into the evolution of coaching in schools. Achieving educational excellence goes beyond dedication and hard work—it requires innovative approaches that empower both educators and students. At Mount Waverley Primary School, we embarked on a transformative journey to reimagine instructional coaching through the lens of co-agency.
Co-agency, as we define it, fosters a culture of partnership, reciprocity, and shared responsibility among staff. This article explores how shifting from hierarchical coaching models to a collaborative framework has strengthened instructional practices and elevated student agency. By embracing co-agency, we are reshaping the way educators learn, lead, and grow together.
