Global Learning

Global Learning

At Mount Waverley Primary School, we are committed to preparing our students for an interconnected world. Our Global Learning program supports students to develop an increased curiosity and deeper understanding of the world. They develop the knowledge and skills required for thriving in a connected, peaceful and sustainable global community.

Global learning teaches students about different countries, cultures, and global issues. Students enhance their self-awareness and learn to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, and belief systems.

Why is Global Learning Important?

  1. Broadens Perspectives: Students learn about different ways of life, which helps them see and understand the world from multiple viewpoints.

  1. Fosters Empathy: Understanding other cultures and experiences builds compassion and empathy.

  1. Prepares for a Global Future: In our interconnected world, being knowledgeable about global issues and cultures prepares students for their future.

Our Global Learning program is based on fostering cross-cultural understanding, through learning about different cultures, countries, beliefs, and customs. Learning about our rich culturally diverse school community has been a foundation for students in developing an understanding of global citizenship and what it means to be a global citizen.

Through interactive lessons, collaborative projects, and immersive experiences, students are expanding their perspectives beyond borders, embracing diversity.

It has been wonderful to see students building an understanding and respect for all, no matter who we are, what we believe or where we come from.
