Hello Everyone, I am thrilled to be able to extend a very warm welcome to Mount Waverley Primary School. Our school is diverse, full of energy, expertise, optimism and high expectations for every child who enters the school gates

Our commitment is to ensure the needs of the children always come first. We prioritise their learning and wellbeing above all else. Our students develop excellence within themselves in an environment that is fuelled by explicit, carefully focused instruction that focuses on meeting the specific needs of every student, every day. Inspired, highly skilled teachers, (and Education Support staff) guide our students on their learning journey and ensure the development of well-rounded, knowledgeable and confident students.

As a school we continually embrace the evidence-based scientific research around best practices for teaching and learning, especially skilled pedagogy as identified in the High Impact Teaching Strategies. Our conscious shift (in recent years) to follow the research of experts in the education field, has challenged our mindsets and ensured we continually reflect on our work, as we move along this journey. The results we see in our students’ learning has been amazing and in 2021 we were identified in the top five percent of schools in the state of Victoria – based on the national testing regime NAPLAN.

Our explicit teaching and constant roaming of the teacher (in classrooms), ensures that students with special learning needs and those whose first language is not English - thrive at our school.
