Towards a Sustainable Environment

Towards a Sustainable Environment

In the 21st Century it is essential to:

  • develop a community of learners who can apply their knowledge, skills and understandings beyond the classroom to new and different situations, especially those concerning environmental sustainability as this is essentially a life long issue.

As a school, we have identified the need to

  • improve and further develop the teaching-learning relationship in environmentally sustainable education
  • create a learning environment in which students are empowered to develop investigative and problem-solving skills that are transferable beyond the school setting.

The implementation of environmental programs across the school will build upon key ideas of sustainability The skills learnt through these programs will centre on the students’ experiences, equipping them with knowledge and skills that they can use in everyday life. Implementing environmentally sustainable education into the curriculum will challenge and extend students to be active participants within their local and global environment in a supportive setting Through the implementation of environmentally sustainable education into the current curriculum, it is intended to:

  • improve student outcomes
  • improve student engagement
  • connect students to their world
