The International School-to-School Experience (ISSE) is a unique international program for schools that provides for the exchange of thoughts and ideas through face-to-face contact with children from other countries around the world. The program gives ten to twelve year old children the opportunity to experience and understand other cultures on a first-hand basis.
In 2017 Mount Waverley was fortunate to participate in the ISSE program for the first time. Eight stidents and two teachers from Bethany School in Cincinnati Ohio visited for three weeks. As well as exploring Melbourne and Victoria with thier host families, they taught our students about their city and country and learned about Australia from students from Years 4 to 6. A highlight was the cultural presentation in which they taught us about the history of American music. In September, two teachers and ten students from Mount Waverley visited Cincinnati for three weeks.
In 2018, seven of our students visited a school in Tokoname, Japan. A delegation from JApan will be visiting MWPS later in the year.
